Originally from Orrum, North Carolina, Hunter Ivey began working at NCSSM in October 2025 as a Community Coordinator on our Durham campus. He attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and graduated in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in biology (zoology track). While at UNCP, he worked as a residential advisor and research assistant. Hunter’s research focused on the dietary relationships between invasive fire ants, honeydew insects, and invasive rye grass, which he was able to present at conferences both across the United States and internationally in Canada. In his free time, Hunter enjoys writing, painting, playing boardgames (both popular and obscure), and playing video games with his friends. He also enjoys spending time in nature observing the plants and animals, as well as spending time in the gym.
