Antonio A. Lopez, born and raised in Texas, gained an interest in chemistry from an enthusiastic high school teacher who became a family friend. Antonio has research experience in computation, analytical, and inorganic chemistry. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at St. Mary’s University and his master’s in chemistry at North Carolina State University. Antonio’s graduate research focused on synthesis and photophysical characterization of dinuclear Pt(II) molecules that exhibit metal-metal-to-ligand charge transfer. His diverse chemistry background is applied as chemistry lab manager here at NCSSM. In his free time, Antonio enjoys volunteering with his wife at their parish and dog-butlering at SPCA of Wake County. He also enjoys woodworking and plans to eventually make his own furniture.
