Jacob Brown joined NCSSM as an Instructor of Physics in August 2017. Jacob attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he obtained his doctorate in physics with a minor in college teaching. During his time at the University of Missouri, he performed research on galaxy formation, focusing on the relationship between the radio and optical regimes. He was also a teaching assistant for general physics courses, teaching labs and recitations, tutoring, and teaching some lectures for general physics courses. At NCSSM, he has been teaching the General Physics and Astronomy courses. He is also a coach for the Science Bowl and Science Olympiad team and serves as the sponsor for the Astronomy Club. He is interested in continuing research on galaxy formation as well as performing research in physics education. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and his children, as well as playing board games and video games and geeking out over superhero movies and Star Wars.
