Smita Trivedi ’97

Dr. Smita K. Trivedi is an Associate Professor of Business and Society/Sustainable Business in the management department, the Director for Student Engagement, and the 2023 Lam-Larsen Distinguished Teaching Professor at the Lam Family College of Business at San Francisco State University. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in public policy, master’s degree in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University, and her Ph.D. in strategic management and public policy at the George Washington University School of Business. She taught high school social studies for several years before working as the senior program officer for education and youth programs at global humanitarian aid agency Mercy Corps and starting her own social justice education non-profit project. During her doctoral studies, Smita worked on urban policy at the White House Domestic Policy Council as a graduate intern. Smita’s research is focused on women entrepreneur networks, and business and poverty alleviation. Currently, she lives and works in California with her husband and two kids, and enjoys coming back to visit her parents in North Carolina.
