Michele Ferry joined the NCSSM-Morganton team in July 2022 as a School Counselor. As a native of Fairfax, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C., area, she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Old Dominion University. She began her career in 1992, working with high school students in the Fairfax County Public School system FCPS. Prior to her school counseling role, she worked in high school security/wellness, as a substitute teacher and athletic coach. Upon earning her master’s degree in counseling at Marymount University, she served as an FCPS counselor at James Madison High School for 14 years. Along with many diversified staffing responsibilities, she advised students on all aspects of the college process. She is proud to have been a contributing team member to the JMHS counseling staff in 2010 as they worked toward the Recognized ASCA Model Program RAMP Certification by the American School Counseling Association. In North Carolina, for 10 years she served as a high school counselor for the Buncombe County School System where she was the scholarship coordinator and College Foundation of North Carolina liaison at Erwin High School. Outside of work, Michele is an avid hiker who enjoys both land and water sports. She also loves cooking, writing, listening to various genres of music, playing piano, and spending time with her multi-talented black cat.
