Lori Newnam is a counseling professional who began her career in 1996, advocating for and supporting children and adolescents across academic, residential, and community settings. She joined NCSSM in August 2005 as a Counselor and became the Dean of Counseling Services in 2016. In 2022, her leadership expanded to oversee Counseling Services for the NCSSM-Morganton campus. Lori is deeply committed to supporting her team and building strong, cohesive counseling services. She is passionate about enhancing mental health resources and college counseling opportunities to meet the growing needs of students, with wellness, academic, and college counseling as key areas of responsibility. Collaboration with students and colleagues is central to her actions and decisions. Lori is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and she holds an NC Standard Professional I Educator’s License as a School Counselor (Grades K-12).
