Ormand Moore started at NCSSM in 2016. He teaches American Studies, Creative Writing, and Modern Latin American Literature and has taught Writing and American Studies and Poetry Writing. Trees and forests are a particular interest of Ormand’s, and his Encounters with Trees J-Term has been an opportunity for many NCSSM students to learn native tree identification in local forests. Ormand earned his B.A. and M.A.T. at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. Before joining the NCSSM faculty, he taught English and Creative Writing at Durham School of the Arts and English at Chapel Hill High School. Ormand and his wife Kate are raising two boys in Orange County via Durham.
