A member of the humanities faculty at NCSSM since 2006, Michelle Brenner has taught a variety of courses and served as technology coordinator. She is passionate about American history, literature and popular culture, interdisciplinary courses, instructional technology, and working with students outside of class to improve their writing. She has developed several Mini-Term courses, including Frankenstein to Freakshows: Science in Popular Culture. She has been elected as a member of the faculty senate, served on the Course Innovation Working Group, honored with the UNC Excellence in Teaching award for outreach, and lives in Durham with her twin girls, son, husband, and pup. Michelle hold’s a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education-English from Western Michigan University, and a master’s degree in Education-English from Grand Valley State University.
