Joined NCSSM in January 2023
Ryan Severance joined the NCSSM faculty in January 2023 as an Instructor of Mathematics on our Durham campus. His experience in the classroom began in 2015 in Columbus, Ohio, and continued until he and his family moved to North Carolina in 2017. Ryan has taught a range of courses from Algebra I to AP Calculus AB/BC. He has also advised student organizations and coached soccer. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and integrated math education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a master’s degree in mathematical sciences from the University of West Florida. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys running, playing board games, and hanging out with his family. He also enjoys reading a wide range of books — everything from topology to Harry Potter to Winston Churchill.
