Katie Burkett joined NCSSM in January 2026 as an Instructor of Mathematics on our Durham campus. She was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and moved to North Carolina for college and never left. She earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Meredith College and her master’s in mathematics from North Carolina State University. Prior to NCSSM, she spent four years teaching high school mathematics in Wake County and served as instructor of record for undergraduate mathematics courses at NCSU for three years. Outside of the classroom, Katie enjoys outdoor activities (hiking, paddleboarding, etc.), cooking and baking, being active (CrossFit, yoga, dance), and traveling.
