Reed Hubbard joined the NCSSM community in July 2022 as an Instructor of Mathematics on our Morganton campus, where he helped establish the Morganton math program. In January 2026, Reed started at the Durham campus, returning to the Research Triangle as an Instructor of Mathematics. Hailing from North Little Rock, he attended the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, the STEM residential school from his home, before pursuing a math degree at the University of Arkansas. For graduate school, he found his way to North Carolina, where he finished his master’s at UNC-Chapel Hill. During his time at NCSSM, he has enjoyed teaching a variety of courses including Precalculus, Linear Algebra, and Real Analysis. Reed is interested in student-centered pedagogical practices, and finding ways to incorporate them in rigorous mathematical settings both pure and applied! Reed hopes his students see the beauty in not only mathematics, but in academic pursuits long after they leave NCSSM.
