Zachary (Zach) Shirley joined NCSSM in March 2026 as the Controller for the NCSSM Foundation, bringing strong nonprofit accounting experience from his previous role as Finance Manager at Communities in Schools of North Carolina. Beginning in 2013, he served in the Air Force for six years as a F-16 Crew Chief and was stationed in Aviano, Italy and Sumter, SC and deployed once to Afghanistan. Zach earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a concentration in financial analytics from North Carolina State University. He is currently pursuing an MBA at Liberty University as a step toward becoming a Certified Public Accountant. In his free time, Zach enjoys golf, college sports, and traveling with his wife.
