After working in private practice for over 10 years, primarily representing local boards of education in North Carolina, Mike Delafield joined the UNC System in 2012, splitting his time between the System Office, representing the Board of Governors and the system president, and NCSSM, where he served as Chief Legal Officer. In 2025, he became the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel at NCSSM, where he provides legal counsel to the board of trustees, the chancellor, and all divisions across both campuses.
