Deann Barger is Assistant to the Chancellor’s Office for NCSSM. She joined NCSSM-Durham in 2011, serving as the Science Department Program Associate before transitioning to her current role in 2024. She is the first to greet visitors to the Chancellor’s Office, and provides general support to the Chancellor and his Executive Assistant and to the Board of Trustees. She also provides primary support for our Chief Legal Council, Internal Auditor, Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student and Employee Success. Throughout her time at NCSSM, Deann has taken on additional leadership roles, serving Staff Senate as Vice Chair, Recording Secretary, and Staff Liaison for Board of Trustees committees. She also serves as a member of the SCSSI Board of Directors. Deann is originally from West Virginia, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with her sons.
