Angela Teachey joined NCSSM in 2008. As the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Programs in Durham, Angela coordinates the faculty reappointment process and teaching awards, oversees the Registrar’s Office and the Center for Advising and Academic Success, and serves as a member of the Conduct Response Team. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues across the institution while providing support to faculty and students; participating in the development of the academic calendar; and assisting with coordination of January Term, Convocation, Family Day, and Commencement. Prior to assuming her current role, Angela was a member of the mathematics faculty for nine years. In her previous role on faculty, she taught algebra, precalculus, and calculus and developed or co-developed several Mini-Term courses, including Be a Math Teacher, Extreme Weather in Our Atmosphere and Beyond, and #STEM#LikeAGirl. She served as a member and officer of the faculty senate, served on the advising planning team, managed a large-scale STEM curriculum development project, organized the Teaching Contemporary Mathematics conference program, and served on the accreditation team. Prior to her employment at NCSSM, Angela was a member of the mathematics faculty at Kennesaw State University (2006-2008) and at C.E. Jordan High School (1994-1998) and served as the Coordinator for Academic Operations at Duke TIP (2001-2006). She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s in mathematics education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate in mathematics education from North Carolina State University. Outside of work, Angela enjoys reading, watching sports, attending concerts and musicals, and spending time with family and friends.
