As Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Life, Taylor Parsons provides support to the Vice Chancellor and to the Student Life leadership team, while serving as a liaison between Student Life and other NCSSM divisions. Taylor also serves as the Student and Constituent Support Services, Inc. SCSSI Coordinator and works closely with faculty and staff to facilitate and manage SCSSI funding for academic competitions, athletic events, J-Term experiences, and more.
Taylor has worked in Student Life since 2015 when he started as the Community Coordinator CC for 1st Hill residence hall. From 2018-2022, in addition to his role as a CC, Taylor served as a Senior Community Coordinator and Student Activities Coordinator for the Durham campus. During this time, Taylor provided leadership for the Student Services department and coordinated campus-wide programs, activities, and events.
Taylor is a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, and has served on the Community Conduct Board and as a co-sponsor of Student Government. Over the years, Taylor has sponsored a number of student clubs and forums, contributed to departmental and campus-wide committees, coordinated NCSSM Prom, and sponsored a J-Term project that replaced one of the senior benches on the Durham campus.
In his free time, Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife Mary, who he met at NCSSM, stacking tiny wooden ladders designed and laser cut in the NCSSM FabLab, and exploring the local Durham community. Taylor graduated from NCSSM in 2009 and from Wake Forest University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and classical studies.
