As the Director of Residential Education and Housing, Michael Newbauer manages various aspects of the residential component from roommate pairings to the operations of buildings. He is the liaison for both the NCSSM food and laundry service contracts, and works with the vendors to accommodate the school’s needs. Another key component of his position is the Residential Education program which has mandatory courses for all students. He supervises a staff of four teachers who instruct the following courses: Cornerstone, Marketing You, Financial Planning, Multicultural, Public Speaking, Leadership and NCSSM to College. Michael previously worked with the YMCA as a Senior Program Director in Aquatics. He has had great success as the NCSSM swim team coach which has garnered many state and regional championship titles over the years. Michael received his bachelor’s in recreation education from SUNY Cortland and his master’s in School Counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill.
