Joined NCSSM in October 2025

Kira Taylor joined NCSSM in October 2025 as a Residential Education Instructor on our Durham campus. She earned her bachelor’s in Africana studies from University of North Carolina, Charlotte in May 2018 and her master’s in student affairs administration from Appalachian State University in May 2020. Kira has worked across student affairs at University of Central Florida, The University of Texas at Dallas, and San Jose State University; but returned to Durham to be closer to family. In addition to her education experience, Kira has worked in User Experience (UX) at companies like Airbnb, Rover, and Dell. Kira is active in her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and shaping student experiences through Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) where she serves as a volunteer Special Events and Member Experience Coordinator. Working with learners of all ages has strengthened her leadership development, creative problem-solving, and event and operations management skills. For fun, Kira enjoys spending time with family and friends, indulging in podcasts, and exploring creative hobbies.
