Description of Duties:
The Senior Residence Life Leader (RLL) of Summer Accelerator or STEP Up to STEM will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the residential staff. They will act as the liaison between summer programs staff and leadership team. Responsibilities include: supervision of staff and programming, ensuring emergencies are handled properly, communicating with parents, scheduling of staff, dorm assignments, and communicating with school personnel as necessary. This person will be responsible for running staff meetings when on duty and coming up with the best plan of action for check in/out days.
They will work closely with the leadership team in the weeks leading up to summer working on logistical items as well as working to help plan and lead staff training.
Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, excellent communication skills, ability to supervise a team, and make critical decisions.

Description of Duties:
Reports to Senior RLL and Associate Manager of Summer and Extended Programs
Residential Life Leaders manage summer counselors, oversee programming and dorm life, communicate with families, and handle emergencies. Responsibilities include support of students, general hall operations, planning and leading programs, office management, building supervision, assigning halls and rooms in advance of the summer based on the summer programs schedule, creating weekly schedules, daily on-call duties, administering medicine/first aid outside of clinic hours, and discipline.
They will coordinate with Security to receive access passes and keys and Facilities to ensure a smooth transition between weeks of summer programming. Also serve as a front-line responder in emergency situations and take on the responsibility of “in loco parentis” by supervising student activities and their whereabouts.
Strong candidates demonstrate leadership, excellent communication, ability to work independently and in a team, superior organizational skills, and excellent judgment.

Description of Duties:
The Summer Student Support Specialist is responsible for supporting student success and social-emotional wellbeing in NCSSM Summer Programs. Reports to Assistant Manager for Summer and Extended Programs
Responsibilities include:
- Read parent and student comment forms (approximately 700 families) for Accelerator, Step up to STEM, and other programs if needed.
- These forms include self-reported medical information and preferences that we use to support the students in having a successful experience with us.
- Ensure that families and students have completed their forms and that we have the necessary information at least two weeks prior to the beginning of each program.
- Identify specific concerns and follow up with families and students as needed before, during and after the program.
- Develop individualized Accommodation Plans when needed and communicate that to the program coordinators, counselors and teachers.
- Send alerts to teachers and summer student life staff as needed to know.
- Keep meticulous records of communication with families and any incidents.
- Meet with students and staff members as needed, possibly keeping office hours and being available at regular times each week. Develop positive relationships with students.
- Be available to assist with concerns as they occur in the summer, or connect students to NCSSM counseling department during the summer programs.
- Possibly lead weekly evening or afternoon enrichment programs for students.
Job requirements:
- Work can begin as early as April 1 and ends July 26, 2024.
- Reviewing forms and contacting families before the summer can be completed remotely.

Description of Duties:
The Off-site Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations and program oversight for Summer Accelerator at the NC Center for Engineering Technologies (NCCET) in Hickory, NC. Responsibilities include managing daily student check-in and check-out, responding to emergency situations, providing first aid, communicating with families, supporting instructors, coordinating program supplies, overseeing instructional assistants, supervising students at lunchtime, photographing programs, and other duties as needed. The Off-site Coordinator is the main point of contact for and liaison between families, instructors, program staff, and Summer Programs Coordinators.
Reports to the Summer Programs Director/Assistant Director on the Morganton campus.
Job Requirements:
- Summer Accelerator at the NCCET runs June 9-14, June 16 – 21, June 23-26, July 7-12 and July 14-19, 2024.
- Hours are generally 8 am to 5 pm.

Description of Duties:
The Lead Summer Program Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the daily classroom needs of the Summer Accelerator Program as well as the overall safety and supervision of the students enrolled in NCSSM Early Accelerator program. They will be the liaison between the Early Accelerator program, leadership staff, and instructors. This position is also responsible for internal and external communication. This includes documenting academics and student life across all summer programs and communicating daily events to families of current participants, as well as weekly summaries to the campus at large and to visitors to our social networks through the management of Accelerator’s social media. Must be able to work independently while communicating the needs of the program. This position will have the option to live on campus or commute.
Duties also include creating, managing, and printing name tags and door decs for each session. Prior to each session, this position communicates with instructors to come up with a schedule of when to visit their classes to document hands-on activities or join field trips. The Lead Summer Programs Assistant photographs students in classes and enrichment activities, uploads photos to CampMinder, and makes posts on Accelerator social media. This position will maintain photos and videos in a shared Google Drive.
Reports to Associate Manager of Summer and Extended Programs.
Job Requirements:

- Work schedule will mainly be from 8:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday but must be available and willing to work some evenings and weekends.

The Summer Accelerator program is seeking individuals to work part-time as a motor pool driver to drive students participating in our Summer Accelerator program on field trips and evening activities. Motor pool drivers will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of passengers. This position requires a valid Driver’s License and CDL with no serious driving-related convictions.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $17-18 per hour
