New Cybersecurity Standards: Why You Should Care

The job market for cybersecurity experts is woefully understaffed and is a primary national strategic priority. Therefore, new national Cybersecurity for K12 students were released in July 2021. In this webinar we will provide a comprehensive overview of the new standards from a member of the standards writing team, give you a basic overview of Cybersecurity, and provide classroom lessons for 3rd-12th grade. About ​Charlotte Dungan:

AI Program Architect  Joined NCSSM January 2018  ​

Charlotte Dungan is the AI Program Architect at NCSSM. She was a computer programmer for 10 years and holds an education degree from Antioch University with concentrations in K-12 English and history. Charlotte has an Ed.M. in Learning and Teaching from Harvard University where she conducted research with computer science educators as part of Scratch Education to develop teacher support materials. She is currently developing artificial intelligence learning supports at AIforTeachers.org including AI PD for educators, standards aligned K-12 curricula that integrates AI, in person training opportunities, and a space for a supportive online peer community. She is a member of #IAmCS, the AI4K12 working group, is Vice President of CSTA NC, and serves on the CS4NC ECEP working group. Her vision is to change the fundamental understanding of AI in society.
