Jill Masten-Byers joined the NCSSM-Morganton team in April 2021 as Associate Registrar. Prior to joining NCSSM she served as a high school counselor specializing in college and career advising, enrichment opportunities for advanced students, and teaching AP Seminar. Her additional previous experiences in education include serving as an adjunct instructor at Appalachian State University and Catawba Valley Community College as well as decades of teaching swimming and leading summer adventure programs for Camp Broadstone and the Boy Scouts. Jill earned her bachelor’s degree from Manchester University in peace studies and conflict resolution and master’s degrees in school counseling and educational leadership, as well as a post-master’s certificate in expressive arts counseling, from Appalachian State University. In her spare time, Jill lends her technical skills to her church, Habitat for Humanity, and the Robin’s Run Foundation scholarship program. She especially enjoys spending time in the outdoors with friends hiking, biking, kayaking and traveling.
