Program Details:

The first two weeks of each course are asynchronous and consist of about 7 hours of work per week. During the third week, students interact with their instructor and other students via videoconferencing meetings, and the course is about 20 hours long.

The synchronous class meetings will take place from 1-2:30 PM.

This course will require students to purchase approximately $30.00 worth of supplies.

Course Description:

Embark on an exciting journey through our cosmic neighborhood! Students will explore some of the most fascinating topics in Solar System science—from the dynamic relationship between the Earth, Sun, and Moon to Kepler’s groundbreaking laws of planetary motion. Along the way, they’ll learn how astronomers measure distances across space and uncover the secrets hidden in starlight.

Students will work with optical and radio data using scientific telescopes and the same software tools professional astronomers use to analyze the universe. Get ready to think like a scientist, investigate celestial mysteries, and see the Solar System in a whole new way!
