Quantum to Cosmos: A Journey from the Very Small to the Very Large

Course Description:

We will learn about the composition of matter on a small scale and large objects in the Universe on a grand scale. Students will learn how to get and analyze data from CERN, LIGO, and other sources. During the online portion of the course, we will learn coding and gain knowledge in particle physics and cosmology. On-campus, students will examine data and produce a paper highlighting a subject of interest within particle physics and astronomy/astrophysics. Course activities will help develop knowledge of areas such as The Standard Model and Gravitational Waves, with some Special and General Relativity in the mix.

Requirement

Successful completion of math that includes geometry and algebra, or precalculus.
