Crime scene investigators have used fingerprints for identifying suspects for more than one hundred years. It’s not hard to understand why the process of collecting and identifying fingerprints is included in almost all forensic science courses.
NCSSM science instructor Candice Chambers created a lesson plan that helps students learn about human identification using fingerprints. Students will learn more about biometrics, as they create their own fingerprint charts and mystery fingerprint samples, and then identify the owner of the mystery fingerprints. The lesson plans include information about classification and identification of fingerprints, printable worksheets, as well as fun activities for the classroom.
