The Washington Post and education reporter Jay Mathews have named North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics to the annual list of 23 top-performing schools with elite students.

NCSSM and the other 22 schools on this list are excluded from the Post‘s annual list of “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” because their high admission criteria, including standardized test scores, results in all above-average students.
