NCSSM alumni renewed a beloved Science and Math tradition when the classes of ’85, ’90, ’95, ’00, ’05, ’10, ’15 and ’20 returned recently to the Durham campus for Alumni Weekend. More than 600 members of the extended NCSSM family registered for the event.

Attendees had plenty to keep them busy throughout the perfect early fall weekend. Reunion began on Friday with the 2025 Annual Meeting of the NCSSM Alumni Association, followed by an NCSSM Foundation Reception and an informal gathering carried over from the alumni’s student days called Happy Half.

As always, the busiest day of Alumni Weekend was Saturday, with alumni coming in from all over the state and nation to mix and mingle with old friends and classmates on the Bryan Lawn. The entire day felt like a fall festival, with food trucks, a Kids Club provided by the Museum of Life and Science, campus tours, class activities, and senior slideshows scheduled throughout the day. Class-specific celebrations closed out the evening at venues throughout Durham.

Sunday saw alumni gather for a farewell brunch with friends in the cafeteria. NCSSM-Durham’s Student Government team helped host Tunes & Transitions: Career Stories Over Brunch, where alumni got to chat with current students about career paths.

Cindy Stubbs ’85 came back to her old home away from home to celebrate her 40th class reunion. “The NCSSM Alumni reunion was all I expected and more,” she said. “Being back on the NCSSM campus and talking to my classmates about life in general was so rewarding. Not only was it a chance to reconnect with friends, it was also a chance to make new connections with classmates that weren’t previously in my friend circle. My heart is full.”
