Maya Anderson-Badillo ‘18 is a volleyball player at NCSSM. New to the school, she is still learning how to balance everything at NCSSM with playing the sport that she loves. Her favorite thing about volleyball, she says, is that when she’s in the gym, she can leave everything at the door and just play to her fullest potential even when that’s hard.
Even though she loves getting out on the court, Anderson-Badillo is striving for more. She says that she wants to be a pediatric anesthesiologist, just so she can help others. It might take a lot of work, but she’s focused, a team player, and is ready to accept the greater challenge.

Favorite food: Arroz con gandules is my favorite food. It is a Puerto Rican dish that translates to “rice and pigeon peas”, and it is absolutely delicious. I know that whenever there is a special occasion or I am just popping over to my great aunt’s house to hang out, there will be arroz con gandules at the scene.
