The fall sports had a very successful campaign with a state runner-up, two regional championships, a regional runner-up and three conference championships. The Unicorns also lead the Northern Carolina 2A Wells Fargo Conference Cup standings after the fall. Below are wrap-ups on the achievements earned by each team.
The women’s tennis team finished as the State Runner-Up, Regional Champions and the Northern Carolina 2A Conference Champions. All-Conference Singles members were Adithi Rao, Emma Wright while all-Conference Doubles honors were earned by Ellen Hu/Christina Park and Vinitha Ravindran/Grace Miller.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams had strong finishes on the state, regional and conference levels. The men’s team finished third place at states and was regional and conference champions. In the state championship Lawton Ives was fifth and Skanda Sastry finished 10th. Ives was also conference and regional champion. The women’s team finished seventh in the state, regional and conference runner-ups. All men’s all-conference members were led by Lawton Ives, Runner of the Year along with Ryan Greenblatt, Wyeth McKinley, Karna Morey, Daniel Pezzi, Skanda Sastry and Jonathan Stepp. Women’s all conference were Katherine Clayton, Anna Margaret Clyburn, Aimee Dalsimer, Katie Danis, Scout Hayashi, Gabriella Marushack, Frances Massey and Julia Wang.
The women’s golf team finished tenth in the state, third in the regional and second in conference play. The team was led by Northern Carolina Conference player of the year Evin Flinchum and joined by all-conference members Claudia Sisk and Dahee Jung.
The men’s soccer team were Northern Carolina Conference co-champions and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. All conference selections were led by defensive player of the year Steven Allen, Ben Nichols, John Benson, Connor Borowski and Abi Udaiyar.
The volleyball team qualified for the state playoffs and completed a fourth place conference finish. All conference members were Ona Ojo and Faith Merritt.
The fall seasons wrap up on Saturday as the Competition Cheerleading team competes in Raleigh on Saturday November 19 at the NCHSAA Championships.
The basketball teams have begun the winter season and will host the first home event of the year on December 8.
