Fall music concert Sunday, Oct. 18, open to all

NCSSM’s music department invites the school community, neighbors, and friends to its Fall Music Ensemble Concert on Sunday, October 18 at 2 p.m.  The afternoon of music will take place in the ETC Auditorium, located on the Maryland Avenue side of campus. Our Chorale, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble will perform, including works by Frackenpohl, Dag Wiren, Saucedo, Alfred Reed, Chance, and well-known local composer Steven Bryant. We will be featuring music from Ghana, Buenos Aires, and variations on a Korean folk song. The concert will also include such popular titles as “Over the Rainbow,” “Corner of the Sky” (from Pippin), and “Autumn Leaves.” The program will end with a rousing rendition of “Stars and Stripes Forever” performed by the combined ensembles.

A reception on the Bryan Lawn, complete with cookies and refreshments and entertainment by the NCSSM Jazz Ensemble and the Unichords, will follow immediately after the concert. As always, this concert is free of charge and open to the public. Families with small children are welcome.
