Beekman is an enthusiastic member of NCSSM’s robotics team, among other interests

Patricia Beekman ’15 knows how it feels to be the only girl in an engineering class. For her Girl Scout Gold Award project, she developed a curriculum and lesson kits to promote mechanical engineering for middle-school girls. That effort and others have earned her the National Center for Women & Information Technology award. Beekman is one of just two winners from North Carolina and 35 nationally, selected from 2,691 applicants from throughout the U.S.
