Christina Hammock Koch ’97 has been selected for an upcoming space flight, set to launch to the International Space Station in April 2019.

Koch, who grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina, graduated from NCSSM in 1997 before earning bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and physics and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from fellow UNC System school NC State University.

Koch was part of the 2013 class of NASA astronauts, the first class in which half of the astronauts are women. Read more about Koch in her 2016 alumni profile.
