All around us, every day, sunlight falling on trees, clouds, fields, and water creates a beautiful show. It’s easy to miss, rushing through the day. Attempting to translate the 3D light show to a 2D surface makes me observe more intently. After painting the marsh, I continue to see colors there in the grass that previously I didn’t notice. After studying clouds, I am even more captivated by their interesting shapes. Painting is a slow endeavor, and looking carefully takes time. We could stand to ease up on the rushing and enjoy the show.”
