Ian McMichael joined NCSSM in August 2022 as Assistant Athletics Director on our Morganton campus. A Roanoke, VA, native, he earned his bachelor’s in journalism and electronic media from the University of Tennessee. He earned his master’s in teaching at UNC Wilmington. Ian taught social studies and served as Topsail High School’s soccer coach for three years, prior to serving as assistant men’s soccer coach at Xavier University, UNC Wilmington, and Pfeiffer University. Ian was head soccer coach at Hampden-Sydney College and Barton College, and worked in additional capacities at both schools, serving as assistant to the athletic director and games operation manager, respectively.
