Course Description:

Forget studying science, politics, and culture in separate boxes! This course is all about realizing that successful scientific innovation only happens when we consider the bigger picture—the cultural and political context. We’ll use South Africa as our real-world laboratory to tackle major challenges like water scarcity, health disparities (like HIV/AIDS), and technological innovation.

You’ll dive into the local culture, meet guest speakers, and choose a specialized Track (like Engineering, Data Science, or Policy Analysis). Working in teams, you’ll independently research a challenge and then create both a physical product and a policy brief. The goal? To present your integrated solutions at a final Mock G20 Summit. No stuffy lectures—just hands-on problem-solving and collaboration!
