Dive into the stories and emotions woven into the hits of the ’90s, 2000s, and today! This engaging summer experience invites students to explore catchy, narrative-driven songs. We will look at everything from Reba McIntyre and Teddy Swims to TLC and Green Day to Taylor Swift and Imagine Dragons. Each day, students will break down lyrics, analyze themes, and discover literary elements like imagery, metaphor, and character in popular music. Even if you’ve never heard these tracks before, their stories and rhythms will pull you in! Through hands-on activities, students will connect music to literature and their own lives, boosting reading comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity. The week features group discussions, guest speakers from the music world, and a final creative project where students use music as inspiration for storytelling or personal reflection.
