Course Description:

Dive into the world of water science and discover why water makes Earth truly special! In this exciting course, students will explore how human activity affects water quality and learn why protecting this vital resource is more important than ever.

Working individually and in teams, you’ll investigate topics like water quality, aquatic ecosystems, nutrient cycles, wetlands, species diversity, restoration projects, and even the legal side of water protection. You’ll get your hands wet—literally!—conducting field research with chemical water tests, land surveys, macroinvertebrate studies, and species collection in nearby rivers and streams.

The adventure culminates in a Future Water Challenge, where you’ll identify a threat to a rural or urban water system and design an innovative solution to ensure clean, reliable drinking water for generations to come. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to make a splash in the world of water science!
