What’s in it? How much does it contain? This course will explore the basic concepts and techniques used in quantitative chemical analysis. The primary focus is on laboratory skills such as titration, gravimetry, chromatography, and spectrophotometry to identify and quantify the contents within a sample. To perform these analyses, a wide variety of other chemistry laboratory skills will be developed such as weighing, heating, calibrating, solution preparation, and observing chemical reactions. Supplementary concepts will include basic statistics, stoichiometry, molecular polarity, and electronic structure.
Prerequisites: strong algebra skills and serious-minded chemistry laboratory desire.
