Math and art are like two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. Artists utilize mathematics in various ways, such as when they blend colors or sculpt shapes. In this Early Accelerator class, the projects we will undertake are designed to enhance both students’ mathematical and artistic skills.
This creative and relaxing course will provide all students with a deeper understanding of the value of art in mathematics. Students will engage in activities such as drawing, painting, and expressing themselves through other various art forms. We will explore numerous mathematical concepts, including the coordinate plane, geometry, fraction, decimal, and percent conversions, as well as area and perimeter, symmetry, scaling, tessellations, circles, and the Pythagorean Theorem. Additionally, we will examine the works of various artists, including M.C. Escher, Chris Dutch, Leonardo da Vinci, Wassily Kandinsky, and Martha Osborn.
