Course Description:

In this hands-on course, students will dive into the fascinating world of comparative anatomy through a series of dissections and explorations. We will dissect a variety of organisms including a frog, fetal pig, clam, shark, earthworm, mushroom, and flower, carefully examining the internal structures and systems of each.

Through these dissections, students will gain a deeper understanding of the diversity of life on our planet and the common anatomical features shared across different taxa. We will explore classification systems, identifying key characteristics that differentiate various groups of living things.

This immersive experience helps students develop critical observation and analysis skills while exploring the diversity of life on Earth.

About The Instructor:

My name is Brad Hicks. I teach High School Science at Caldwell Applied Sciences Academy. I have taught science for 14 years and each year I enjoy it even more. Some personal things about me include, I have been married to my wife, Rebecca for 17 years. We have two amazing daughters Mallory Jane who is 14, and Mariella who is 10 years old. A way I would describe my family would be that we are “dog lovers.” We love dogs and we love meeting new dogs. Currently, we have three dogs- One Golden Retriever named Rosie, a rat terrier named Buddy, and a crazy Chihuahua named Princess. They are spoiled and extra-loved.
