Dive deeper into the world of calculus. Covering material from the second semester of college-level calculus, this course challenges you to apply and expand your knowledge of derivatives and integration techniques to build an understanding of the calculus of polynomial approximations and series, vectors, polar functions, and parametric functions. Explore concepts graphically, numerically, and analytically to foster a more complex understanding. Prepare for the Calculus BC AP exam in the spring with AP review problem sets and a fast-paced learning environment.
Enrolling in this AP course will require you to have excellent study habits.
Requirements
● Prerequisites: B+ or higher in Precalculus through your local high school or NCVPS
● Materials/Textbook: An online OpenStax Calculus textbook will be provided, and
additional textbooks will be provided on loan from NCSSM.
● Site Requirements: Access to an AP classroom; a graphing calculator (TI-83, TI-84, or
TI-89) you can take home; and internet access via a smartphone, tablet, or personal
computer to access additional instructional materials.
● Pre-assessment: An online pre-assessment at the start of the semester will tailor your
learning experience. This assessment will help the instructor determine if there are any
gaps in your mathematical understanding. If conceptual gaps are present, the instructor
will provide resources to help close them.
