NCSSM Faculty and Staff are invited to attend most events hosted by the Institutional Advancement Division either as honorees (Faculty Luncheon) or representatives of the school (Alumni Weekend). For details about specific events, please see below. If you have any questions, please e-mail alumni@ncssm.edu
NCSSM Alumni Weekend is an annual event for classmates to come together, share memories about their NCSSM experience, and learn about the NCSSM of today. Reunion activities offer a diverse menu including an educational program called the Reunion College, North Carolina barbeque, soccer match, campus tours, a special anniversary cocktail reception, individual class dinners, Faculty Brunch and much more!
NCSSM families begin the day with a welcome from the Chancellor followed by groups from NCSSM’s outstanding Fine Arts Department, including the Orchestra, Choir and Wind Ensemble. Following the student's schedule, families visit Instructors in twenty minute time slots. Within the schedule, families meet the Counseling staff and Physical Activities staff.
NCSSM grandparents begin the day with a welcome from the Chancellor followed by attending Research Science Presentations throughout the day. The event concludes with an afternoon tea.
NCSSM Alumni Board hosts the annual forum and lecture series for the NCSSM community traditionally held in April. The Alumni Board annually selects an alumnus to open the series and speak to NCSSM senior students. This alumnus is selected based on their professional contribution, community involvement, or unique impact on society. Alumni volunteers come to campus to serve as discussion panelists, interacting with students about professional experiences and academic direction. Senior students will attend an alum presentation in a field that they are interested in pursuing.
National Appreciation Luncheon is a nationally recognized event traditionally sponsored the first Wednesday of June. Current NCSSM parents prepare and serve the NCSSM faculty and staff lunch and distribute thank you cards. A number of gifts are raffled off.
