Though the numbers are still being finalized, we know enough to make the call: Giving Tuesday 2024 was a huge success. Thanks to more than 300 donors, the NCSSM Foundation was able to raise well over $200,000 in a single 24-hour period. Approximately half of the giving was unrestricted, giving NCSSM the flexibility necessary to meet the school’s most pressing needs.
Anna Grace Anderson, a 2024 graduate of NCSSM-Morganton from Blowing Rock, spent part of her time at NCSSM working in a student leadership role with the NCSSM Foundation. The experience helped her to more fully understand the role philanthropic giving plays in the life of the school, and she hopes that her donation, which helped NCSSM-Morganton exceed its fundraising goal by more than 40%, will inspire others.
“I learned about just how important private giving is to NCSSM,” Anna Grace said. “Funds donated to the school through the Foundation help create the core of the NCSSM experience, so I believe that it’s important for alumni to give back so that current and future students can have the same, if not better, amazing experiences at NCSSM, as we all did. Even though I cannot give large donations now, I wanted to remind others that every small donation counts.”
“Supporting one’s favorite cause or organization is always fulfilling no matter what day of the year it is, both for those contributing and those working to solicit and steward philanthropic gifts,” said Barbara Coury, NCSSM’s Vice Chancellor for Development & President of the NCSSM Foundation. “It’s never more fun, though, than on Giving Tuesday, when so many of our students, alumni, family, and friends all come together at the same time to show their love for NCSSM. We had a great day on Giving Tuesday and are so thankful for the faith our donors placed in us.”
