Kate Auger joined NCSSM in August 2022 as a part-time Instructor of Photography. She grew up in Brunswick County, North Carolina, and attended North Carolina State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial design. She then received her MFA of experimental and documentary arts at Duke University in May of 2021. Kate has served as an Instructor of Art at Duke University and at the NC State Crafts Center. Her work explores identity, home, trauma, and landscapes through still photography, film, and speculative fiction. Outside of teaching and photography, she enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy novels, paddle boarding, and spending time with her partner and two cats.
