Chris Hopkins came to NCSSM in April 2023 as the Assistant Director of Campus Safety for the Durham campus. Prior to coming to NCSSM, he spent a decade in law enforcement as a police officer, detective, and supervisor, having served with the Covington County MS Sheriff’s Department, University of Southern Mississippi Police Department, and the North Carolina State University Police Department. He also served in the U.S. Army and is an Operation Enduring Freedom veteran. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in sociology. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family hiking, camping, or watching the Durham Bulls baseball team.
