Are you creative? Do you like art? Do you also love math? In the Discovering the Art of Mathematics course, students will use mathematical concepts and ideas as a basis for creative expression through individual and collaborative art. We will explore concepts around shape, patterns, proportions, scaling and symmetry by taking field trips in the local community the local community and use public art to investigate the connections between art and math. Students will leave with original artwork and an appreciation of how art and math connect in our world.

About The Instructor:
My name is Tonya Scott. I have been a teacher and instructional coach in public school for 21 years. When I was in the classroom, I taught math, but have always been a huge advocate of integrating content whenever possible. My husband and I are both educators and we have an amazing daughter, Addy, and two dogs, Willie and Waylon. We love to travel, go to concerts, and learn new things together.
