In this course, students will learn Chemistry principles through the art of mixing and baking a variety of treats. Students will use the Engineering Design Process as we experiment, problem-solve, and troubleshoot our way through delicious recipes.

Dr. Carrie Jones
Dr. Jones has been a North Carolina public school teacher for 24 years, at the middle and high school level, as well as at the college level as an Adjunct professor. She has 5 college degrees (Ohio State University-2; NC State University; University of Cincinnati; and Clemson University) in Science/Education-related fields. She is National Board Certified and is currently working on a graduate certificate in Academically Gifted students through UNC-Charlotte. Dr.Jones’ interests are in engaging students in STEM through creative arts, such as baking, crafting, soap-making, and jewelry. She teaches jewelry classes at NC State University, as well as writes grants for her own classroom to engage students in hands-on learning.
