Here are instructions for all platforms.
1. Get Firefox Install the Firefox browser on your lappy as follows.
- If your lappy is a Windoze machine or a Mac, go to this link to download the latest version of Firefox. Download the installer, run it, and reboot your machine.
- If you are a Linux user, you have Firefox by default.
2. Add on the Add-ons You will want two add-ons. You get these from The Mozilla Addons Site. Search for and install tha addons WebDeveloper and Firebug. Once you install these, restart Firefox. You may restart Firefox after installing both; you do not have to restart after each install.
How do I know I did this right? If you did this correctly, you will see a new toolbar in Firefox that contains menus such as CSS, Tools and Outline. You will also see a little beetle in the lower right-hand corner of your browser's frame. Click on it to open Firebug. Firebug will alow you to explore HTML documents and to perform diagnostics on JavaScript code.
Is WebDeveloper Available for Chrome? Yes. There is a similar console and suite of tools. This link has a tutorial on using them. Give it a spin!
