Agency’s Mission Statement

The Western North Carolina AIDS Project is dedicated to providing HIV-related services to the people of Western North Carolina through client support, prevention education, and outreach activities in a collaborative and financially responsible manner.

Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served

  • To promote and support the empowerment and independence of HIV positive individuals.
  • To assist clients in moving towards self-sufficiency, increased independence, improved health, and an enhanced quality of life

WNCAP offers

  • Knowledgeable assistance with Social Security, private and public health insurance, disability and pharmaceutical assistance applications
  • Financial assistance to those who qualify for housing, medical, transportation, and other expenses
  • Access to informational resources
  • Emotional and recreational support groups
  • Treatment adherence monitoring
  • Food delivery services for those who qualify

Agency’s Impact on the Community

This agency has helped to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in Western North Carolina through educational programs, providing free condoms to the community, presenting at health fairs, etc. They have worked with people in high risk groups in particular and are working to end the stigma against AIDS and people with the disease by educating them about it. They also work with HIV positive people in Western North Carolina to provide them with the support that they need to have the best quality of life possible.
