Agency’s Mission Statement
-To provide care to injured and orphaned native wildlife.
-To educate the public as to the nature of the problems confronting wild populations in the face of expanding human populations.
-To encourage respect for the environment and the other species that share it with us.
Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served
-To release native wildlife into appropriate habitats in a condition that will optimize their chances of survival.
-To promptly identify those animals whose injuries will prevent their eventual release and determine the best course of action for the individual animal in keeping with state and federal regulations.
-To develop and conduct educational programming to increase public awareness of:
a. The impact human activities have on wildlife and the environment
b. How the individual can minimize his/her impact
c. Instill, in the audience a respect for the environment and the wildlife in it
d. Encourage a desire to make environmentally friendly choices
-To provide said programming on-site and as community outreach presented by staff and volunteer rehabilitators utilizing non-releasable wildlife to enhance the message being communicated.
Agency’s Impact on the Community
This agency has made an impact on the community of Asheboro, NC by not only providing a safehaven for injured and orphaned wildlife until they are ready to be released back into the wild, but also by informing the public about the impact of their activities on wildlife, and instructing the public on how to reduce that impact.
Volunteer Duties
- Preparation of diets for education, nursery, adult, and pre-release animals
- Weighing, feeding, and cleaning of nursery animals
-Feeding of education, adult, and pre-release animals
-Housekeeping of the facility
-Answering of the phones
-Assistance in the developing of x-rays
-General care of the animals of the center
