Agency’s Mission Statement

The Poe Center for Health Education’s mission statement reads as follows: “The Poe Center positively impacts the lives of North Carolina youth through Health Education.”

Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served

The agency’s goals are to better the lives of local North Carolinians, especially the youth, through innovative programs dealing with health education. Health related information and unhealthy lifestyle preventative measures are deposited throughout the community by Poe staff and volunteers. The programs offered to the people served range from school-sponsored discussions on dental health to week-long summer camps covering a full range of health-related issues.

Agency’s Impact on the Community

The Poe Center for Health Education has informed numerous children, especially those from impoverished families, on the ways of leading a healthy lifestyle and its successive benefits. Schools send entire classes on field trips to the Poe Center to have their children spoken to on such issues as puberty, drug and substance abuse, and dental hygiene. The Poe Center has made a positive impact on its community by informing children on how to lead a healthy lifestyle and by providing them with the information to do so.
